I’ve been so lazy in the mornings that I have had to leave without my morning coffee. So sad! I have been buying energy drinks at Walgreens to tide me over. I really need to get back to making my coffee at home so I can save cash.
To drown my sorrows after my disappointing audition, I used part of my tax refund to buy a backdrop with a stand and a ring light. I think the ring light will be just what I need for any makeup related videos. My two LED lights still left some shadows even on the brightest setting. I am excited to try everything out! I need to set up a regular blogging and video schedule so that I don’t forget to post updates. I have been buying makeup quite frequently. I have a backlog of products to review and discuss!
I am looking forward to attending a voiceover workshop next month. The commute is longer than I would like. About 100 miles round trip. I had to post an ad on Craigslist to find a ride. I was surprised that someone actually responded. I have a meeting scheduled with him later today so we can talk and get to know each other. This is an annual workshop that I have been wanting to attend for quite awhile. Transportation is always a problem so I have never been able to go. I decided that it was important enough to spend extra on gas in addition to the workshop fee. Hopefully, I will remember to post updates online as I progress though the class.
In order to keep my voice in shape between auditions, I joined a church choir. These folks are true professionals. They sound so polished. The director is really nice and it is obvious that he is passionate about the music and making it sound exactly like it should. To be clear, I have not joined the church and I don’t attend services. The music isn’t old or “churchy” like I first assumed. The song we are working on is a gorgeous but angst-ridden piece written in the 21st century. I can’t wait to hear what we sound like with a full orchestra.
We had an extra choir rehearsal last night. I am so glad I attended! We got a special session conducted by the maestro who used to be the composers teacher. He taught us some neat things about how the voice works that I had never considered before. He had to correct some of our mid-western pronunciations of certain words in order to make the piece sound better. My only problem so far is picking out the Alto I part. My music reading ability isn’t perfect. I am having trouble knowing when to sing when other parts overlap. I think proper timing will come with practice. Others around me are having similar issues, so I don’t feel like the only one struggling at this point.
After work today, I will be attending a post-St. Patty’s Day party at a fellow actresses house. It will be a small intimate affair. It will be a nice chance to see some folks I haven’t seen in awhile.
What would you like to see in future videos? Makeup reviews? Unboxing videos? Stories about my acting/auditioning/workshop adventures? Random life updates?
Have you checked out Skelotim on YouTube yet?
He is so funny! He’s also an excellent makeup artist. He likes to create makeup looks based on his favorite snacks. He calls himself a “fat bitch” and makes no apologies for enjoying his favorite chips and drinking beer. He even includes blooper reels at the end of each video. Hilarious!
See you soon!
I have really dropped the ball lately. My apologies. I had been away for so long that I had forgotten my password! Shame on me!
I am focusing on a big project. I have had tunnel vision lately and haven’t been able to think about anything else. Things should start getting back to normal(?) next month.
I am going to try and get caught up on your blogs during my downtime at work. Keep up your wonderful writing! I will be back in full force soon!
I am really happy with my new lights! I have been working on an upcoming project, so my attention has been elsewhere lately. I am going out of town tomorrow to an event. There may be a makeup pic posted if I have time.
I am so excited to start setting up my new lights (pics to come)! I haven’t had a moment to myself lately, so everything is still in boxes.
I had a wonderful holiday weekend. I used the extra day to sleep in and get some cleaning done in preparation for our new bed. I was too busy enjoying myself to post much online. I have some Ipsy products to show off. I also have a couple unboxing videos I want to do. I can’t wait!
I finally got a new phone. My old Kyocera phone that I hastily purchased in NY as a replacement was pretty abysmal. Apps were crashing all the time. I really missed my old HTC phone. This new phone is a lot like my old HTC, but better! Better picture quality, better sound quality, better memory, and a lot more bells and whistles. Overall, a much better product. I have taken some photos with it, but I haven’t had time to post them.
With my 6 day a week job and my daily gym visits, it will be challenging to find time to edit and post videos. How do you find time? Do you post at the same time each week? Do you post at the same time of day? I think Sunday would be ideal for me if I can stay in one place long enough. Ha ha!
A vlogging friend advised me to shoot videos of myself with different devices and in different settings just to get used to filming and seeing myself on film. Good advice! I am always reluctant to shoot random videos because my makeup or hair isn’t quite right. I just need to get over myself and start putting stuff out there.
Keep your eyes open!
I had coffee for lunch today and then ran out of time to post an update. I love this wine label design. We got this wine as a gift in October and have been holding onto it until we have a night to ourselves.
Lights have been purchased! I linked to them in an earlier post. I also ordered a new phone. As soon as it arrives, you should see an improvement in the quality of my photos.
I am looking forward to starting my holiday weekend after work tomorrow. Perhaps I will take the extra time to do something nice for myself.
Chili was yummy, but messy. I love it when I find places that have Diet Dr. Pepper in their fountain machines. That particular pop can be hard to find.
We are having unseasonably warm weather today! Weather in this part of the Midwest is ridiculous. We can go from below zero to 50s in the space of a couple days. People always joke that if you don’t like the weather here, just wait a few minutes and it will change.
Going grocery shopping this evening. I found some 99 cent tuna packs last time. I will definitely be buying those again. They are perfect for a sandwich on the go. No need for draining. I am going to get some hot chocolate packets to exchange for the chocolate flavored coffee I keep buying. Gotta watch my pennies.
Stay tuned for another Kohl’s shopping photo!
